Notes for WILLIAM M. SPENCER:

William married Allifair in Mongomery County, North Carolina on November 10, 1815

His son William was born 1835 in Tennessee and his son Elijah was born 1815 in Tennessee which shows that he and Allifair went to Tennessee from North Carolina right after their marriage.

It seems that William's father, Elijah had moved to Tennessee sometime around 1820.

They stayed in Tennessee until around 1840 to 1845 when they went to Dewitt County, Texas. William's father, Elijah, died in Tennessee in 1843 which could be the catalyst for the move to Texas.

At about 1845, while in Dewitt County, William married a Nancy Gorman Pugh, and it seems that he never divorced Allifair. This obviously caused trouble, and Allifair and William (maybe other children) moved to Upshur County.
